Through the use of clothing, jewelry and cosmetics women attempt to achieve ideals of beauty. I am interested in a variety of aspects of beauty ideals and self-presentation particularly our ability to change our bodies temporarily through practices of dress. Our use of these objects and practices to express our identity is compelling to me as a maker of jewelry. Through the process of adornment, women not only portray their inner self or alter their physical beauty but they express their sense of power, strength and security. I am interested in the control women can gain through the use of elements of dress over our audience. Since women are performing daily, the artwork that I create demands from them to be unique and express the self-confidence and security they have in their beliefs and bodies.  My adornment requires that the wearer pay attention to their physicality and be aware of the control they have over the gaze of the public.
